NEWS UPDATES: The last day for applications for admissions into the STEM Starter Academy was extended to May 23, 2014.  Applications for the STEM Starter Academy are currently under review.  Letters informing applicants of their status and other important details will be mailed by June 15, 2014.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is dedicated to investment in STEM research, education, and job and workforce development in light of the local and national need for increases in the number of people completing education and training needed to meet workforce demands.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Educational efforts in STEM center on four themes:

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) has developed the STEM Starter Academy (SSA) as a response to these themes.  The STEM Starter Academy at STCC has the following objectives:

Summer at STCC: STEM Starter Academy

A part of a statewide initiative to promote STEM education, the summer bridge program of the STEM Starter Academy at STCC is geared toward recent high school graduates (no earlier than 2012) and currently graduating seniors from Massachusetts high schools who have been accepted to attend STCC in fall 2014.  The STEM Starter Academy summer bridge program will run from Monday, July 7 through Friday, August 22, 2014.  Students participating in the summer program are expected to be on campus between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and will be engaged in following activities:
