SPAN-221 - ELEMENTARY SPANISH 2  3 credits
This is a continuation of Elementary Spanish 1, with emphasis on the four basic skills necessary for the mastery of a foreign language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. More sophisticated grammatical and linguistic concepts are introduced and discussed, using the Spanish language as a tool for communication. Students gain knowledge of the contemporary thought of Hispanics in the United States and in the Hispanic world. Intense oral drills and practical vocabulary. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of Elementary Spanish 1 (SPAN-121) with a grade of C or higher, its equivalent at another college or university, one year of high school Spanish and/or placement at SPAN-221, or permission of the instructor.
