Creative Writing
Creative writing is a term used to distinguish certain imaginative or different types of writing. This distinction is helpful in separating creative writing from more technical or journalistic writing. Creative writing includes, but is not limited to such forms as fiction (novels and short stories), drama, poetry, screenwriting, self-exploratory writing, such as autobiography and experimental writing.
The study of creative writing provides preparation for potential careers in advertising, marketing, publishing, editing, script writing, as well as, fiction and non-fiction writing.
Students interested in pursuing further education in creative writing should consider taking the following courses as electives while at STCC:
ENGL-321 Introduction to Creative Writing - Poetry
ENGL-421 Introduction to Creative Writing - Fiction
