World Languages
In a world becoming increasingly global and international, the ability to speak a
world language or languages is a growing commodity. Advanced study in a
world language generally extends beyond vocabulary and grammar to include the study of the history, literature and culture of a particular country or countries where that language is spoken.
Many career avenues may be open to individuals who are bilingual or multi-lingual.
Many corporations and industries conduct business in foreign countries. Other career opportunities, such as educator, translator, correspondent, and diplomat, may be enhanced by knowledge of world languages and cultures.
Students interested in pursuing higher education in world languages should consider taking the following courses as electives while at STCC:

The STCC International Club invites you to join and become involved in many activities and events on campus, including workshops with guest speakers, taking part in the Multicultural Luncheon on campus, and planningfor events such as a visit to the United Nations in NYC!

Liberal Arts Transfer Program Goals
The Liberal Arts Transfer program will produce graduates who:
- as graduates, transfer to senior institutions having completed the general education requirements of the senior institutions.
- as graduates, transfer to senior institutions as full Juniors.
- transfer courses as equivalents of prerequisites for junior and senior level courses in their majors at the senior institution.
- complete the bachelor's degree at the same rate as native students.
- demonstrate the capacity for critical thinking, quantitative, reasoning, communication, and information and technological literacy.

Notes:
- Liberal Arts Electives include: Math, Science, Social Sciences (except PSYC-109), Humanities, Fine Arts, and CMPA-196(Computing in the Arts and Sciences). A world language is recommended. For those students interested in secondary education, EDUC-320 Foundations of Education may be taken.
- Humanities Electives include: Art, Music, Drama or Creative Writing. Two are needed for students planning to transfer to Westfield State College.
- CMPA-196 Computing in the Arts and Sciences is strongly recommended.
Upon the successful completion of requirements for this program, the degree of Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts Transfer will be awarded.
