Adult Basic Education
The STCC Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program provides an opportunity for learning to all members of the community. The ABE Program offers class instruction, tutorial services, and computer-based instruction. Services are provided at no charge.
Class instruction is offered at three levels:
- Adult Literary (grade level equivalents: 0-4.9)
- Pre-GED (grade level equivalents: 5-8.9)
- GED (grade level equivalents: 9-12)
To be eligible for ABE classes, individuals must be at least 18 years of age and not currently enrolled in school.
Classes are self-paced, so the length of the class instruction varies with each individual. Classes are held two evenings a week from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on the STCC campus, Building 27. All materials are provided by the Massachusetts Department of Education free of charge.
If you are interested in being part of our ABE Program, please come to the Adult Education Center (Building 27, 1st floor) any Tuesday or Thursday between 8:00 in the morning and 7:00 in the evening and ask for an ABE application.
