ADMISSIONS COUNSELING

The admissions process can be a daunting experience without a little help from your friends.  Shall I go day or evenings and if I go evenings is my major offered?  What do I have to do to apply, be accepted and enroll in my classes?  What are the requirements to be accepted into the major I want?  Is financial aid, a scholarship or student loan available to me?  Where do I go to get a copy of my GED certificate?  How do I go about taking my placement tests?  And what about all the health records I need to complete?  I’m a veteran, I’m disabled, I’m bilingual with poor English language skills, I need day care – what do I do; where do I go?

The Counseling Center stands ready to help you with all these issues and more.  The first thing you should do is make a copy of the following handout from the Counseling Center:

Going To College – This is a check off list of names, locations, phone numbers and other information you will need for the process of enrolling, applying for financial aid and/or veteran’s benefits, taking your placement tests, etc.  Print directly from this page or better yet, make an appointment with a counselor to discuss your unique issues and concerns.

The Counseling Center staff can be of assistance with finding and using resources at the college for declaring a major, understanding your placement test scores and choosing appropriate courses, decisions on part time versus full time enrollment, child care, bilingual services, disability services, etc.
