GRIEF/BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

  • A variety of helpful Grief Recovery Programs are offered by the Forastiere Family Funeral Homes: www.forastierefuneralhome.com
    These support groups currently meet in either Agawam or East Longmeadow.
    Call 413-733-5311 to receive an up-to-date Grief Support Calendar with dates, locations and times
    • Widowed Support Group:  For anyone who has lost a spouse
    • Family and Friends Support Group: For those who have lost a child, parent, sibling, close relative or friend.
    • Healing after A Suicide: For anyone whose life has been touched by suicide.
    • Handling the Holidays: Although understanding the grief process helps in coping with everyday life, holidays often are especially difficult. For this reason, every November a special two-hour program is offered presented offering specific suggestions for planning ahead to better cope during the holiday season.
    • A Time To Remember: Finding ways to comfortably remember a loved one and recognize the importance of the life that has been lived is helpful during the grieving process.  A unique program has been designed, which allows for quiet reflection through music, poetry, and meaningful ceremony while being surrounded by others who are also missing a loved one.  This sensitive and moving program is offered each spring to anyone in the community.     Support for individuals/families who have experienced the loss of a child, sibling or grandchild of any age and for any cause.
  • The Garden:  A Center for Grieving Children/Teens

    A grief support program for anyone who has experienced the death of a family member or friend.
  • Grief and Recovery  Don’t use a STERB, a Short Term Energy Relieving Behavior, such as food, alcohol, drugs, sex, isolation, etc. to cover up the emotions of a loss.  This website is an excellent resource for those who have experienced a loss and those who would like to help someone who has experienced a loss
