Alumni Testimonials - Augusta Mueller
After graduating from high school in 1987, I tried College but I did not feel at this time that it was right for me so I began working full time. During this time, I moved to Western Massachusetts to live with my grandmother and decided, after 3 years in the working world, that I should take one class at a local community college to see if my feelings had changed and I ended up here at STCC. After receiving an A in that “one” class, I decided I was ready to pursue higher education! STCC was wonderful to me with professors like Linda Harrington and the support of Louisa Davis-Freeman in career planning as well as many others at the college I was able to build my confidence in academics.
It was through STCC that I landed my first professional internship at Walt Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida through the WDW College Program. I ultimately achieved my Ducktorate Degree in Management Disney Style and landed another internship out of the park and in community relations at Team Disney as the coordinator for the company's compassion program. I graduated with my Associates in Business Administration in 1993 from STCC.
Upon arriving back in Massachusetts, I continued my education at American International College. I graduated from AIC in 1995 with a B.S. in Business Administration (marketing concentration). In 1999, I began working on my MBA at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut and then took a position as a planning analyst at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport CT. In 2003, I successfully obtained my MBA with a financial concentration from SHU and took a position as the Director of Planning at Bridgeport Hospital. A role I have enjoyed for nearly four years. Something I would not have achieved had I not taken the first step and enrolled at STCC in 1989.
