INCENTIVE GRANTS (FIG) 2010

OVERVIEW
The Springfield Technical Community College Foundation is soliciting proposals for grants to improve or maintain excellence in the delivery of academic or student retention services at Springfield Technical Community College. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded on the basis of competitive proposals from eligible units of the College.
FIG projects may include, but are not limited to:
* faculty development projects
* curriculum development
* workshop presentations or seminars
* equipment acquisition
* support service projects that enhance student retention
If funds are requested as seed monies to initiate new College services, a letter signed by the Vice President of Administrative Services, verifying the availability of resources to continue this program when FIG funds cease, must accompany this application. Applicants are limited to submitting one proposal for review.
ELIGIBILITY
Grants will be made to departmental units of Springfield Technical Community College. Applicants must represent a recognized organizational unit of the College as defined by the College organizational chart.
EVALUATION Applications will be reviewed on a 100-point system.
Goal
Up to 25 points will be awarded to the proposal on the goal of the project as it relates to the College's goals, department objectives and current needs.
Objective
Up to 20 points will be awarded to the proposal on the objectives of the project as they relate to improving the College/Department situation. Special emphasis will be placed upon the number of students benefiting from the project, or developing an exemplary practice or service.
Soundness of Plan
Up to 20 points will be awarded to the proposal that defines who will do what, when, and where, to ensure that the grant is activated to meet the project objectives.
Personnel
Up to 15 points will be awarded to the proposal that indicates appropriate faculty and staff have been consulted in the development and implementation of the plan.
Budget
Up to 5 points will be awarded to the proposal that indicates a reasonable budget has been prepared to meet the objectives of the project, and an additional 5 points will be awarded to the project where matching funds or services will be secured.
Evaluation
Up to 10 points will be awarded to the proposal on the basis of how the grant will make a difference in the College's ability to provide quality academic programs.
Schedule for Funding and Operation
1) Completed applications for the FIG program must be delivered to the office of William A. Kwolek, Executive Director of the STCC Foundation, by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009. Only applications which are completed will be evaluated.
2) Applicants may be requested to meet with representatives of the STCC Foundation to discuss their application.
3) Announcement of the awards will be made by the STCC Foundation on Friday, April 9, 2010.
4) Award recipients will be required to attend a joint meeting of the College Development and Administrative Services staffs at a time and date to be announced to review procedures for implementing the grant.
5) Award recipients are required to complete purchase orders and employment requisitions by Friday, September 10, 2010.
6) Any funds not committed through a completed purchase order by Friday, December 10, 2010 will revert back to the Foundation.
7) A one-page evaluation report on the completed project must be filed with the Foundation by Friday, March 4, 2011.
