Dental Hygiene Program Award

Massachusetts Dental Society
The Massachusetts Dental Society has awarded $25,000 to Dental Hygiene Department Chair Carol Szlachetka to expand the program's capacity by funding the purchase of a new dental hygiene chair.

This award is effective September 8th, 2008.

Adult Education Center Awards

Commonwealth Corps
The STCC Adult Education Center is proud to announce that Commonwealth Corps has approved funding for a Literacy Works network collaborative proposal to increase the number of volunteers participating in Adult Basic Education Programs. Valley Opportunity Council is the lead agency and the partners include the Ludlow Adult Learning Center, the International Language Institute, Read/Write/Now Adult Learning Center, the Holyoke Juntos Collaborative and the STCC Adult Education Center.
Massachusetts Career Development Institute (MCDI)
The STCC Adult Education Center is proud to announce that grant funding for the Adult Education Program has been renewed for fy09 in the amount $93,374.00. The program provides classes for basic literacy, pre-ged, ged and ged math. The program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education through a sub-contract with MCDI. All services are provided free of charge for adults 18yrs and older who reside in Hampden County. To apply, interested individuals should complete an application at the Adult Education Center.

ABE Transitions Program Award

MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
The STCC Adult Education Center is proud to announce a grant award from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the amount of $60,000 to enable STCC in coordination with ABE Adult Learning centers to provide services that successfully transition adult learners into post-secondary education.

This award is effective July 8th, 2008.

STCC Pathways to Success MCAS Program Award

MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
The STCC Adult Education Center is proud to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved 2 grants for fy2009 for the STCC Pathways to Success MCAS Program. The college will receive $36,000 for the academic year program and $16,000 for the summer program. Our next session will run from September 8th to December 10th, 4:30pm-7:30pm in the Adult Education Center building 27,1st floor. The program provides students the English and math remediation needed to pass the MCAS re-test along with college readiness, college survival , and career exploration activities. The program will serve students from the classes of 2003 through 2010.

This award is effective August 13th, 2008.

School of Math, Science and Engineering Transfer Award

Westfield Bank
Westfield Bank, through it's Future Fund grants program, has awarded $15,000 to the Dean Robert Dickerman and Professor Dawn Tamarkin of the School of Math, Science and Engineering Transfer for the purchase of new microscopes.

This award is effective July 1st, 2008.

Electrical Engineering Technology Award

Entrepreneurship: Where Art Meets Engineering
Professor Buckley has won a grant of $29,500 for a 2 year project to create the class "Entrepreneurship: Where Art Meets Engineering." this first-level class will address the overall need for more engineers combined with the equal need to inspire a more creative approach to societal problem-solving through design. and we expect that it will be a way for non-engineering students to try out the world of engineering, perhaps leading more students in this direction.

School of Nursing Grant Award

Nursing Initiative
The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education has awarded $50,000 to Springfield Technical Community College as part of its Nursing Initiative - "Nurse of the Future Competencies" for Education and Practice, under the direction of Mary Tarbell.

This grant was awarded to STCC in partnership with the Regional Employment Board of Hampden County, Inc.
This award is effective March 14, 2008 and expires June 30, 2008.

Electronic System Engineering Technologies Grant Award

National Science Foundation Grant
The National Science Foundation has awarded a grant of $199,985 to Springfield Technical Community College for support of  "The Sensor Networks Education Project (SNEP)" project, under the direction of Gary J. Mullett, Farid Farahmand, Yakov E. Cherner.

This award is effective April 15, 2008 and expires March 31, 2010.

Western Massachusetts Electric Company has awarded $50,000 to Springfield Technical Community College over 5 years to be used as scholarships for students in Science, Math and Engineering.
NewAlliance Bank
NewAlliance Bank has awarded $5,000 to Springfield Technical Community College to be used as student scholarships.
