| What is it? The President's Grantseeker Award is a $500 cash award given to faculty and staff who work with the Grants Office to successfully complete and submit a grant proposal to an external funder. Purpose: To establish a campus grantseeking culture by encouraging faculty and staff pursuit of external grants and to help faculty and staff overcome trepidation about the grantseeking process. Why is this important? 1. It increases college resources for teaching, research, and student services. 2. It increases STCC visibility, which may attract other support. 3. It provides a resume enhancer for faculty and staff. Award Details: Up to ten awards at $500 each will be given each fiscal year, to be used as the recipient wishes. There is no deadline for applying, but only ten awards will be given per fiscal year. Awards will be made upon successful grant proposal submission. Rules: 1. Any permanent STCC employee who has not submitted a grant proposal in the current fiscal year is eligible, as long as the applicant is not currently receiving salary through a grant and the proposed project is not a renewal of an existing project. 2. Project activities should be related to the College's mission and goals. 3. Request for funding must be at least $20,000. 4. The proposed project must be such that a grant proposal will have a strong-to-reasonable chance of being funded from external sources. 5. Applicant must work with the Grants Office and contribute to proposal preparation and submission as asked. The Applicant will: 1. Be responsible for initial project design. 2. Participate with the Grants Office in identifying a potential funder. 3. Agree to serve as the grant's Principal Investigator (P.I.), the person who assures that the proposed project is executed as stated in the proposal. 4. Participate in proposal writing and budget development with the Grants Office. 5. Assume responsibility for managing any partnerships and/or collaborations as needed. 6. Submit any needed proposal materials to the Grants Office before the funder's deadline. The Grants Office will: 1. Meet with you for an initial grant strategy meeting. 2. Help you assess the fundability of your proposed project. 3. Teach you how to find appropriate funders. 4. Help you revise your program design to meet specific funder needs. 5. Work with you on proposal writing and do a careful proposal edit. 6. Provide on-going guidance and assistance in pulling together proposal components. 7. Submit your final proposal to the funder either electronically or hard copy mail as required by the funder. | |
