The John Richard DeMarco, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The DeMarco Family offers a scholarship in the amount of $300 each semester to a student attending the College during the day in memory of John Richard DeMarco, Jr.
Any student who is interested in applying for this scholarship must write a 500 word (maximum) essay on the following:
- The importance of an Associate Degree.
- Their goals and/or transfer plans and what academic area they are pursuing.
- Why this scholarship would assist them in their academic endeavors.
All entries must be submitted by November 30 of the Fall semester and April 18 of the Spring semester to:

Essays will be forwarded to the DeMarco Family, and they will select a winner. The scholarship will be awarded for the semester following the one in which they applied. The winner will be notified in writing prior to that semester.
The Father Robert F. Wagner Memorial Scholarship
The Bureau for Exceptional Children and Adults, Inc. in Holyoke (“Jericho”) has established the Father Robert F. Wagner Memorial Scholarship. Two $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded annually to students from Western Massachusetts who are graduating from high school or who are enrolled in an accredited college or university. To be eligible, a student must:
- be a resident of Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin or Berkshire County;
- be a graduating high school senior or a returning student attending an accredited college or university; and
- either demonstrate an intention to pursue a degree and a career dedicated to serving persons with disabilities, or be a person with a disability seeking to further his or her education.
In addition to the above eligibility requirements, financial need, academic achievement, volunteer service, and church and community activities will also be considered in selecting scholarship recipients.
The goal of this scholarship is to remember Jericho’s founder, Father Bob Wagner, and to encourage and assist those who wish to follow in his footsteps by bringing dignity, respect, and wholeness to the lives of persons with disabilities. The Selection Committee will review all applications, identify the most deserving individuals based on the principles for which this memorial scholarship was created, and will make awards accordingly.
To complete the application process, the applicant must provide the following materials:
- Completed Scholarship application
- Transcript of academic records for grades 9-12 and/or undergraduate record
- Two letters of recommendation
- Statement from a physician or school administrator verifying disability (if applicable)

Latino Breakfast Club-Eugenio Maria de Hostos Scholarship
The Latino Breakfast Club-Eugenio Maria de Hostos Scholarship, which promotes the life and work of the renowned Puerto Rican, Eugenio Maria de Hostos, provides up to two $2,000 scholarship awards to recognize outstanding Latino/a students at Springfield Technical Community College. The LBC and STCC have created the Hostos scholarship to enhance the educational opportunities for Latino/a students within the Greater Springfield area. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to academically promising Latino/a students who contribute to the campus and/or citywide community and have demonstrated financial need.
The scholarship criteria is as follows:
- Be of Hispanic/Latino Descent
- Be a current Springfield Technical Community College student who has completed at least 12 college level credits OR be a 2007 or 2008 graduate of a Springfield public high school who will be entering STCC in the fall of 2008
- Demonstrate financial need (documentation may be requested by committee)
- Perform community service, related to the STCC campus and/or off-campus activities
- Write a 5 paragraph essay on what about Eugenio Maria de Hostos you find to be outstanding and how you see yourself in the future

Big Y Scholarship

- They award more than 225 scholarships each year totaling more than $200,000.

Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program
Applicants may be either first or second year students, planning to continue their education at a two-year institution.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be:
- U.S. Citizens or permanent residents;
- Carrying a minimum 2.5 GPA at time of application;
- Able to document a minimum 100 hours of community service in the twelve months prior to application;
- Planning to enroll in at least two courses during the next term in a two-year degree granting institution.
Application Requirements Include:
- Grade point average (include copy of transcript)
- Documentation of community service activities
- Essay on the topic: The Value Of An Education: My Future

Typically, there is an early May deadline by which all materials must be submitted to the Dean of Students Office, Building 27, 2nd Floor, with a cover letter indicating Coca–Cola Scholarship Application.
Community College Transfer Scholarship Program
Scholarship Requirements:
- Be enrolled part-time or full-time at a community college;
- Have plans to transfer and enroll full-time in a degree-seeking program at a four-year U.S.-accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands in the upcoming academic year.
General eligibility requirements for this and other HSF scholarships are:
- Be of Hispanic heritage;
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired);
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale;
- Must have applied for federal financial aid.
Typically, applications for fall awards are available on line early the previous October with a late January deadline.
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation’s leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education. More information about the Community College Transfer Scholarship Program and other scholarships is available on the HSF web site, www.hsf.net.
Datatel Scholars Foundation Scholarships
STCC is a Datatel Client college. The Datatel Scholars Foundation currently offers four scholarships aimed at targeting a variety of students across their client campuses. These scholarships are not financial need or solely academic based, therefore encouraging all students to apply. Any interested student must apply on line at the Datatel Scholars Foundation web site www.datatel.com.
Once on site, click on any of the links below for more specific information:
- Datatel Scholars Foundation scholarship: for any student attending a Datatel Client college or university or working at a Datatel non-education client site and enrolled in any college or university.
- Angelfire scholarship: for veterans, spouses, or children that served in Vietnam or the Asian Theatre during the 1964-1975 time frame. Refugees of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam also fit this category.
Returning Student scholarship: for any student returning to higher education in the upcoming academic year after a five-year absence or more. - Nancy Goodhue Lynch scholarship: For any student majoring in a technology-related curriculum program.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The Jack Kent Cook Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program is open to students who currently attend a community college or two-year institution located in the United States and plan to transfer to a four-year college or university for the Fall term. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation will award scholarships in the spring for use beginning in the Fall term of the next academic year.
The award will provide funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books for the remainder of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholar's undergraduate degree. Award amounts will vary for each recipient based on the institution he or she attends. Awards cannot exceed $30,000 annually. Scholarship monies not used during one academic year are not transferable to the succeeding academic year. The scholarship is renewable for each year of undergraduate study if the Scholar continues to meet the program's requirements.
The Foundation awards up to 30 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships for community college transfer students. The number of scholarships awarded will depend on the number and qualifications of the nominees.
Minimum Eligibility
To be eligible to compete in the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program, a candidate must at a minimum
- Be nominated by his or her two-year institution,
- Be a current student at an accredited US community college or two-year institution with sophomore status by December 31st of each year, or be a recent graduate (since spring 2003),
- Have a cumulative college grade point average of 3.50 or better on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent),
- Plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to begin studies in the fall semester, and
- Not have previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.
Most two-year college will apply additional eligibility requirements. Your faculty representative can provide details.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, color, sex, age, physical or mental disabilities, sexual orientation, or national origin. Foundation staff, board members, and their families are not eligible to apply.
Nomination Procedures
All candidates for scholarships must be nominated by their community college or two-year institution.

New England College Council Scholarships
The Board of Directors of the New England College Council typically awards three scholarships of $750 each academic year to students attending one of its member institutions. (Members are most of the two-year colleges in New England.) Applications are accepted until mid April. Requirements are as follows:
- Students must have completed thirty (30) hours of credit toward their first Associate’s degree by the end of the Spring semester, one-half of which should have been at the member institution.
- Students must be returning to their current college for the following Fall semester, and plan to graduate with an Associate’s Degree the next May or earlier.
- Students must submit a letter of interest/application (no more than 4 pages) stating:
- reasons for attending college
- reasons for choosing the course of study
- grade point average
- reasons why scholarship assistance is necessary
- civic, service learning, and/or college activities in which they have been
involved - goals for the future
- One letter of support from faculty or staff must accompany the letter of interest.
- An unofficial or official college transcript should accompany the application along with a schedule of Spring classes.

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts
The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers, through one centralized application process, nearly 100 scholarship and interest-free loan funds. Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need.
