Testing Services

A variety of tests are administered at STCC through the Testing and Assessment Center located in Building 17, Putnam Hall, in room 425. As a community service, STCC is a testing site for certain tests which benefit the population of the surrounding area. Other services are restricted for students attending STCC.

Tests available to the general public include:

  • GED (high school equivalency exam)
  • CLEP (College-Level Examination Program)
  • various licensing and certification exams scheduled throughout the year

Tests restricted to STCC students include:

Placement Tests - for incoming students, to gather information needed to advise and schedule appropriate courses for each student. Tests include:

  • English
  • Math
  • Reading

Challenge Exams - for STCC students registered in degree programs only.  Credits toward graduation can be earned on a pass/fail basis.

Bookstore

The College Bookstore is located in Building 20, first floor. The Bookstore is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During Open Registration, the Bookstore will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

It is also open until 7:30 p.m. for the first meeting of each evening class, as well as 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the first  Saturday of the fall and spring semesters.


Parking

Parking is allowed in designated areas on a first-come, first-served basis on campus. No parking is allowed on the grass, roadways, in handicapped spaces, and/or against buildings. Fire lanes must be kept open at all times. In addition, no parking is allowed on Museum property. This includes Museum designated spaces, grass, walkways, and roadways. Limited off-street parking is also available at the parking lot on the corner of Federal and Pearl Streets.

All evening students are required to display a campus parking pass hanging from their rearview mirror. These passes must be picked up in person at the Registrar's Office. There is no charge for parking passes for evening students.

SCE shuttle buses for evening students run from 5-10 pm, M-Th with pickup at marked locations at each building and drop off is at the various parking lots on campus


Library

The STCC Library is located in Building 27. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. while classes are in session and during exam week. To check on vacation hours, call 755-4845.


Gallery

The Gallery (grill and snack bar) located in Scibelli Hall (Building 2) is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with evening hours of 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.


Veterans Services

All veterans are encouraged to contact the Office of Veterans Affairs prior to registration so that the staff can help you with information and the necessary paperwork to establish your benefits. Credentials and inactive files are retained for a maximum of two years. Applications received during the registration period will be processed as time permits.

The Office of Veterans Affairs is located within the Bursar's Office in Building 15. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m, Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters. A representative will be available during the evenings by appointment. The office phone number is 755-4393.
