GAT-125 (Formerly: GRPH-125) - TYPOGRAPHY AND LAYOUT  2 credits
This introductory course introduces students to the basic elements of typography, design, and page layout. The lectures will cover the history of type, including traditional typographic methods, type specifications, aesthetics of good type usage, and how it applies within today's computer applications. The fundamentals design principles and page layout will be covered, with a focus on effective visual presentation combining type and images. In the LABs, students work on learning the basics of professional layout by importing text & graphics using current design software. An emphasis on good, clean, functional type & design will be stressed. (keep in mind that the computer is only a tool; learning it does not make you a designer.)
