STCC Student Accounts Office - Refund Policy

Refunds are made only to those students who officially withdraw from class(s). In order to do this, a student must complete a withdrawal form, which is available from the Registrar's Office. The College will, thereupon, refund a portion of the student's tuition and fees according to the following schedule for each semester.  Refunds will be mailed each semester approximately 6 weeks after the first day of classes. Students should also review the STCC Financial Aid - Withdrawing and Refund Policies to see how their withdrawal may impact their Financial Aid award.

Students paying for tuition, fees, and related charges by credit/debit card are assessed a non-refundable 2.0% convenience fee.  In order to better serve our students, STCC accepts Visa, Discover, MasterCard, American Express, and E-Check payments.  Students may pay with cash, checks, money orders, and E-Checks as a fee free alternative to credit/debit payments. (Please note that the convenience fee rate is subject to change.)

Nelnet Payment Plan credit and debit card convenience fee will remain at 2.5%.

Fall and Spring refund policy:

  • Withdrawal during the 1st week of classes - 100% (tuition and fees)
  • Withdrawal during the 2nd week of classes - 75% (tuition, Gen. Ed fee and capital improvement fee only)
  • Withdrawal during the 3rd week of classes - 50% (tuition, Gen. Ed fee and capital improvement fee only)
  • Withdrawal after the 3rd week of classes - No refund
  • All refunds take approximately six (6) weeks to process.

Summer refund policy:

  • Withdrawal on or before the 1st day of classes - 100% (tuition and fees)
  • Withdrawal on the 2nd day of classes - 75% (tuition, Gen. Ed fee and capital improvement fee only)
  • Withdrawal on the 3rd day classes - 50% (tuition, Gen. Ed fee and capital improvement fee only)
  • Withdrawal after the 3rd day of classes - No refund
  • All refunds take approximately six (6) weeks to process.
