Blueprints are a set of instructions in the form of a drawing
designed to show another person or persons the exact design and
dimensions of a structure that is to be built. Blueprints are
usually created by a Landscape Architect, Interior Design Architect,
Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer or another of a multitude
of specialized architects and engineers.
Throughout this 12 hour, non-credit course you will discuss blueprints, their purpose, the meaning of the many symbols and how the various building trades us this particular drawing as the instructions for building houses and commercial buildings. You will learn how to look at a set of Architectural or Engineering drawings and learn to interpret the meaning of each part. You will learn the purpose of The Legend, where the section views are located and what their purpose is. You will also learn how to use Specification along with the drawings and Letters of Transmittal that accompany blueprints.
This course will be particularly helpful for people that are:
- Currently working in the construction industry,
- Looking to enter the construction industry,
- Engineers and architects that do not have experience with blueprints.
