Course Description

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Review Course. This six-week course is directed towards the sonographer who is credentialed in another field of ultrasound. The course will include an introduction to the hemodynamics, pathology and pathophysiology of the vascular system. The student will learn normal and abnormal vascular findings. Discussion will include the clinical signs and symptoms and the appropriate diagnostic testing and treatment of various vascular diseases.

An introduction to vascular scanning protocols will be covered. Carotid and venous studies will be lightly covered on the assumption that the intended audience is already somewhat familiar with these exams. The students will be introduced to other diagnostic testing methods, therapeutic and surgical intervention and pharmacology related to these structures.

This is NOT a hands-on scanning course. SDMS CME credit approval is pending (12 credits in VT).

Must be ARDMS or ARRT credentialed in another ultrasound specialty and have at least some vascular scanning experience.
