Free Workshop in Grant Writing for Nonprofit Organizations Scheduled at STCC
Grant writers for area nonprofit agencies are invited to a free workshop at Springfield Technical Community College on Tuesday, May 20. Scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon, the workshop will be held in the theater of Scibelli Hall at STCC.
Deborah S. Koch, Director of Grants at STCC, will conduct the workshop, which will offer:
- A brief overview of foundations, and what factors make a project appealing to foundations
- Researching foundations and analyzing the material you collect
- Identifying a foundation that is a good match for your project
- Determining what makes a project fundable and establishing measurable outcomes
- Figuring out the best approach for each foundation prospect
- Writing letters of inquiry and proposals
- Packaging the proposal
- Stewardship – how to behave once you get a grant, to increase your chances of funding in the future
Koch said, “In an era of decreasing government funds, many nonprofit organizations and public entities are scrambling to find money for their programs. Private and community foundations are one source of those funds, but the competition for monies can be great. This workshop should help participants improve their chances.”
Anyone interested in attending the workshop should reserve a seat by emailing or calling Linda Padykula at Padykula@stcc.edu or 755-4523, by May 15.
