Writing Across the Curriculum
Interested faculty under the Academic Services Standing Committee of Shared Governance have organized the Writing Across the Curriculum Subcommittee (WAC). Its mission is to provide support for students and instructors in all disciplines who use writing as a tool for learning.
Faculty and professional staff members are encouraged to join the committee or to ask for help with issues related to writing in the disciplines. WAC members maintain this Writing Resources at STCC Website, have published a sourcebook for grading rubrics across several disciplines and a campus writing guide, On The Same Page. Most recently, members have conducted Winter and a Summer Institutes devoted to cross-discipline writing and critical thinking development.
Continuing projects: Writing Across the Curriculum workshops for faculty and students, individual consultation, developing WebPages linked to STCC disciplines and an online WAC magazine.
The Writing Across the Curriculum Office, open by appointment, is located in Building 13, Room 104, across from the English Tutoring Center.
