- Degree Awarded: Associate in Science in Engineering and Science Transfer
I am well prepared to continue my education and explore career opportunities in fields like sustainable energy, mechatronics, and biomedical technology.
"I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands: welding, blacksmithing, sculpting, working on cars and motorcycles. After high school I studied fine art, focusing in kinetic sculpture. My journey took me to California where I continued working with my hands as a machinist for a company that fabricated large scale stainless steel sculptures for a highly regarded artist. These works were installed around the world, including at the 2012 London Olympics. I worked closely with the engineers at the company, and realized a career in engineering would suit me well.
It wasn’t until I’d relocated and been living and working in Massachusetts that I began researching engineering schools. A university professor recommended STCC as the best place to begin my engineering education.
Now, as I prepare to graduate and transfer to a 4 year college or university, I’m in a position to give the same advice. The engineering curriculum at STCC is intense and rigorous. The classes combine and cross over so everything leads to a comprehensive understanding of engineering. I am well prepared to continue my education and explore career opportunities in fields like sustainable energy, mechatronics, and biomedical technology." Adrian Carleton
“Adrian is a very intelligent, motivated student with a wide range of talents, interests, and pursuits. It has been a joy to teach him and get to know him. He'll be a great engineer!” Beth McGinnis-Cavanaugh, Professor, Physics & EngineeringSee all Success Stories
