I took six classes at a time and I thought about giving up, but I did not.

"I started at STCC in January 2016. I found out I was pregnant at the end of my second semester back in 2016.

It was not easy to deal with pregnancy, working, and going to school full time, but my mom only asked me to push forward and finish school. I made that promise to her and to my daughter. I’d be tired from pregnancy and coming home beat up from cleaning the hospital, and I’d do homework for hours into the night.

I took six classes at a time and I thought about giving up, but I did not. I had my daughter in August 2017 and was able to go back to school in time for the fall semester, even though I had some physical complications from my labor. And now after five semesters I graduated and received my first degree.

I am the first in my family to have a college degree and I will be transferring to Western New England University in the fall to continue my education in business. I will be enrolled in a five-year accelerated program to get a bachelor’s and master’s degree."

“Jazmin was in the Commonwealth Honors Program and distinguished herself while here. She has grit, passion and knows how to follow through. In spite of some really challenging circumstances, Jazmin has persisted and thrived. She’s a great role model for her daughter.”
