I’m very invested in the STCC community and was proud to be elected Student Body Vice President by my fellow students. In my new role I want to help students experience the community aspect of community college.

“I was born in the Sudan in East Africa and came to the United States in 2015. I began classes at STCC in the spring of 2016 and was fortunate to spend the summer as a student in the STEM Starter Academy, a summer program for students to explore the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). I was surprised by the diversity of the campus. STCC is a very welcoming, vibrant and stimulating community.

I am majoring in Engineering & Science Transfer. My career interest is in renewable energy and how it can benefit developing societies and underserved populations. The STCC faculty are very accessible. Classes are small so you really get to know your professors and they get to know you. Resources like tutoring and supplemental instruction are always available to help you succeed.

I have been fortunate to become a Supplemental Instructor helping students succeed in the classroom. Supplemental instruction is available in many different classes and to anyone attending those classes. I’m very invested in the STCC community and was proud to be elected Student Body Vice President by my fellow students. In my new role I want to help students experience the community aspect of community college. There are many service opportunities for students and we have an active Student Government Association and Student Ambassador Program. At STCC, all you have to do is ask and someone is there to help you."

“Mohamed exemplifies all of the good in students. Diving deeply into everything he does, he explores his passion for math, social justice, and community engagement. One of his many gifts is his ability to support those that he meets along his journey - learning and sharing with them. Mohamed is creative, intelligent, and humble, and I look forward to continuing to work together in the coming year.  I have no doubt that Mohamed will do whatever he sets out for himself.”
