RE: Campus Operations and Key COVID-19 Updates
Dear STCC Students, Faculty and Staff:
Due to the dynamic developments related to COVID-19/Coronavirus:
Extension of Spring Break (Through Week of 3/28)
STCC will extend Spring Break by an additional week, and as of this writing, on-campus classes will now resume Monday, March 30th, pending further developments.
Please note that online, hybrid, clinicals (where still available), and other alternative and remote courses will continue.
The extension of Spring Break will continue to provide valuable time for faculty, staff, and administrators to further contingency planning.
Curtailment of Campus Operations/Public Access (Week of 3/16 - 3/22)
Effective Tuesday, March 17th, and for the remainder of the week (Sunday, 3/22), the college will be curtailed, and will not be open to the public.
Massachusetts Community Colleges are fully committed to maximizing remote work, teaching, and learning opportunities for the foreseeable future as we work to ensure the health and safety of our students, employees, and communities.
Staff will continue working with their supervisors on maximizing remote work, and STCC will be establishing minimum staffing levels for this week, and for the Spring Break extension.
Under curtailment, hours of the Rubenzahl Student Learning Commons (Building 19) will be reduced, and all services will cease at 5:00 p.m. this week and next.
Of particular note are other on-campus supports like the Armory Square Child Care center. As an independent contractor, STCC will work with the child care center to continue operations in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
For Students: Essential supports and services remain available to you, including the Center for Access Services (CAS), which has the Ram Cupboard food pantry.
To promote social distancing and related practices encouraged by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), gatherings of any kind on campus that exceed 10 individuals in close quarters are cancelled or otherwise postponed. This action will remain in place through March 30th, or unless it is necessary to revisit or extend.
All work-related travel for employees, whether in-state, or out-of-state, is no longer approved, and this decision will remain in place through March 30th, or unless it is necessary to revisit or extend.
We continue to make decisions informed by the most up-to-date, factual information issued by the CDC and Mass Department of Public Health, and please continue to check the STCC Coronavirus website for updates
Thank you, and take good care,
John B. Cook, Ph.D.
