RE: Prepping for Coronavirus/COVID-19

Dear STCC Community:

Rest assured, the President, senior administrators, and the STCC Emergency Response Team (ERT) are working diligently to prepare for complications associated with the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

The ERT met this Monday afternoon to formalize plans, and a comprehensive email with details will be distributed to students, faculty, and staff by this Wednesday.  Members of the STCC ERT, including our Health & Wellness Center leadership, are actively monitoring developments, as well as campus plans, resources, and responses.

College officials remain in close contact with state and federal public health officials, and the State Department of Public Health assesses the current risk to Massachusetts residents as low.

Jonathan Miller, our Coordinator of Health Services, continues to serve as a key point of contact for our campus community.  He sent an advisory email campus-wide on January 31st, and today, he had a conference call with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Jonathan at (413) 755-4230.  As Chair of the STCC Emergency Response Team, you can also contact me with questions or concerns.

To close, please note the college strongly recommends following CDC prevention guidelines, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Sincerely,

Joseph DaSilva
Vice President of Administration/CFO
