SMC-115 - Community Health Worker: Roles and Responsibilities

2 credits This course will explore the basic roles and responsibilities of the community health worker as a member of the healthcare and social service workforce. Student will learn about the history of community health work. The context in which health disparities exist, and about the role of the community health worker in bridging these disparities to increase access to quality care in marginalized communities. Students will also learn about basic skills required of a community health worker.
