  • Degree Awarded: Associate in Science in Biotechnology
I knew that Biotechnology was a growing industry in Massachusetts. I credit STCC’s Tutoring Services for helping me with the challenging course work in math and chemistry.

"I first came to STCC to obtain my GED and then graduated with a Certificate of Completion in Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning. Raising a young son required me to have a more flexible job so I returned to STCC for a Certificate of Completion in Medical Coding & Billing Specialist. I enjoyed working in the health field and I decided to further my education. I knew that Biotechnology was a growing industry in Massachusetts. I applied to STCC’s Biotechnology program and was accepted. I credit STCC’s Tutoring Services, in particular my tutor, Armando Pardave, for helping me with the challenging course work in math and chemistry. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from UMass Amherst and I’m continuing my education to obtain a Master of Science in Applied Biotechnology. My career goal is to be a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on sexually transmitted diseases which have such an unfortunate impact on our underserved communities." Ivy Rivers

“Ivy has a real passion for biotechnology and she always brought her enthusiasm to both lecture and lab. Ivy represents the best of STCC—I am very proud of her and her accomplishments.” Lisa Rapp, Professor/Department Chair, Biotechnology
