Application Timeline
- September 28: The application opens.
- October 23: The application closes at midnight.
- Mid-December: Recipients are selected and notified by email — check your STCC email.
- January: Scholarship funds are applied directly to your STCC account.
Notification
If you're selected, you'll hear from us by email. Check your STCC email regularly — all scholarship communications will come through there.
Scholarships are applied directly to your STCC student account. If you are eligible for a free community college and receive a scholarship, the funds will still be applied to your student account. If this results in a credit balance, you may be eligible for a reimbursement.

Scholarship Reception
Each spring, the STCC Foundation celebrates its scholarship recipients at our annual Scholarship Reception. This year's reception will be held on May 19, 2027 (location and time to be determined).
Recipients of both fall and spring scholarships are warmly invited to attend. It's a wonderful opportunity to be recognized for your achievement and connect with the donors who made your scholarship possible.

The STCC Library maintains a list of additional scholarship opportunities available to our students. It's a great place to start your search.
Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts
If you live in Franklin, Hampden, or Hampshire County, the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts may have a scholarship or loan for you. They award more than 1,000 scholarships each year and offer interest-free educational loans across more than 160 funds.
Big Y Scholarship Program
Big Y has supported students in our region since 1981, awarding more than $6.7 million to over 8,800 recipients. Their annual scholarship program recognizes academic merit and achievement. Applications open each November. For more information, call 413.504.4080 or email scholarship@bigy.com.
Massachusetts Community College Nursing Scholarship
The Community College Nursing Scholarship Program is available to students pursuing a nursing degree or certificate at a Massachusetts community college. It provides "last dollar" assistance to help cover tuition, fees, and books — meaning it fills the gap after other aid is applied. The mikeroweWORKS Foundation
Created by TV personality Mike Rowe, the Work Ethic Scholarship Program supports students pursuing careers in the skilled trades like electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, nursing, and more. Visit their site for a full list of eligible programs and to apply.
Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women Scholarship
The MCSW Scholarship Program awards five scholarships of $5,000 each to woman-identifying students enrolled in a Massachusetts public college or university. Funds can be used toward tuition, fees, books, and related supplies. For more information, visit the MCSW website.
