Program Description

The Bridge to High Efficiency Energy Systems program prepares participants for careers in the growing energy, HVAC, and building performance industries. Through hands-on learning and industry-focused instruction, students build the technical knowledge, workplace skills, and safety training needed for success in today’s clean energy workforce.

Participants develop essential digital and workplace technology skills, including email communication, online platforms, and document management systems commonly used in modern workplaces. The program also strengthens professional skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and workplace readiness.

Students are introduced to:

  • Building science and energy efficiency principles
  • Heat transfer, energy flow, and building performance
  • HVAC systems, including traditional heating and heat pump technologies
  • Renewable energy systems and sustainability practices
  • Blueprint reading, technical diagrams, and workplace documentation
  • Applied math, measurement, and graphical literacy for technical careers
  • OSHA safety practices, PPE, and hazard recognition
  • Career Readiness Support (i.e. resume development, interview preparation, career exploration)

Credentials Earned

  • OSHA-10 General Industry Certification
  • BPI Building Science Principles Certificate
  • ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (Bronze minimum)
  • Massachusetts Oil Burner Apprentice Certificate (Entry Eligibility)

  • Participants must be 16 years or older
  • High School Diploma preferred 
  • MA Resident

No, you do not need a high school diploma to take this course, but it is preferred.

Participants must be 16 years or older to attend this course.

Do I need to be an MA resident to take this course?
Yes, you do need to be an MA resident to take this course and be eligible for grant funding. 

Is there grant eligibility for this course?
Yes, this course is funded through a grant. We will contact you to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements for this course. 

Is this a SNAP/DTA eligible program?
Yes. If you receive SNAP benefits through DTA you may be eligible to take this course.
