2026 Honors Convocation

Department and School Honors Awards
The Honors Convocation ceremony, held annually on the evening before Commencement in the Scibelli Hall (B2) Gymnasium, recognizes dozens of STCC graduates who have achieved and demonstrated outstanding excellence in a variety of academic areas. Participants include those recipients who have been selected by their faculty for special recognition.
Honors Convocation is an invitation-only event. Invitations will be sent to nominees after the close of final grade submissions. Students who are nominated, selected, and invited to participate will receive both an email notification and a follow-up phone call.

Commonwealth Honors
Commonwealth Honors awards are given in recognition of students who have earned the designation of Commonwealth Honors Scholar by completing nine credits of Honors coursework, with a grade of B or better, while maintaining an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher. Honors coursework includes: Honors Colloquia/Seminars, Honors course sections, as well as Honors Add-on projects. The Honors Program at STCC is part of a statewide-integrated network of Commonwealth Honors Programs at Massachusetts community colleges, state universities, and UMass Campuses. The designation of Commonwealth Honors Scholar is certified on the student transcript and is recognized throughout the Massachusetts public higher education system.
4.0 Academic Achievement Awards
This award is conferred upon those members of the 2026 graduating class at Springfield Technical Community College who deserve special recognition for their outstanding academic achievement in all academic studies at the College by completing their degree program with a perfect cumulative Quality Point Average of 4.0.
Recognized at Commencement Ceremony
Commencement Honors
Graduates and Prospective Graduates in Associate Degree programs who have exceptional GPAs with a minimum of 30 college level credits in residence are eligible for recognition as Honors students at Commencement. Recognition at Commencement will be based on the cumulative GPA the student holds at the time of the Commencement ceremony. Final awarding of Academic Honors will occur once all outstanding credits required for the degree, if any, have been recorded. For Prospective Graduates participating in Commencement, final awarding and recording of Honors on their transcript will be based on their GPA following the completion of their final credits. Honors designation will be as follows: Honors (GPA of 3.3 to 3.69), High Honors (3.7 to 3.89) and Highest Honors (3.9 to 4.0).
