Speakers share ideas at 4th Annual STCC Leadership Conference

An audience heard “big ideas” from a variety of speakers at the 2018 Leadership Conference held at Springfield Technical Community College’s Scibelli Hall Theater on June 15. Speakers at the fourth annual conference included faculty from STCC, small business owners, sales professionals and other proven leaders.

Faculty in the Computer Information Technologies and Digital Media Production programs at Springfield Technical Community College were honored as this year’s endowed chair award recipients. STCC selected Brian Candido, of Granby, as the 2018 Anthony M. Scibelli Endowed Chair, and LuAnne Carbaugh, of Easthampton, as the 2018 Joseph J. Deliso Sr. Endowed Chair.

STCC faculty head to Africa for medical mission trip

Faculty from Springfield Technical Community College’s health programs are bound for Gambia in west Africa as part of a medical mission trip to assist poor communities. The three STCC faculty members will be part of a team administering medication and medical supplies as well as providing health education to people living in the village of Tankular. The team also will distribute school items and clothing for children.

STCC steers student toward internship at MIT Lincoln Laboratory

Growing up in south Texas, Gerald Gagnon never dreamed he’d be working in a premier research laboratory affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. But this summer, a week after receiving his certificate in Optics and Photonics Technology from Springfield Technical Community College, Gagnon started working as an intern at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, a Department of Defense research and development lab in Lexington.

Students from overseas pursue their passion for architectural design at STCC

STCC biotechnology students tour Berkshire Sterile Manufacturing

Students in the biotechnology program at STCC recently got a close-up look at a biotech company in Western Massachusetts. They visited Berkshire Sterile Manufacturing in Lee and examined vials and syringes, among other biotech devices, and looked at state-of-the-art equipment designed to produce drugs.
