During career advising appointments students receive help from professionals within Career Services to further understand life after graduation and to develop general strategies for moving forward in the direction of their aspirations. Career advising appointments can include, but are not limited to, the following topics to assist students:

First Year
- Create your Career Profile on the Career Coach
- Complete the Career Coach Interest/Skills Assessment
- Review “Your Top Career Matches” to learn more about majors and career options.
- Complete the Career Strategy Intake Form and schedule an appointment via Career Services website to meet with a career advisor to discuss majors and career directions.
- Attend career events, fairs, and workshops to learn more about the internship search process and to network with prospective employers.
Second Year
- Complete the Career Strategy Intake Form and schedule an appointment with a career advisor via the Career Services website to construct your resume and cover letter.
- Explore and apply for internships.
- Secure an internship and complete the application for a credited internship before the add/drop deadline.
- Search for career opportunities through Career Coach.
- Participate in employer information sessions, career workshops, and events.
- Attend Fall and Spring Career Fairs, Transfer/Internship Career Fair.

Before You Graduate
- Learn more and apply for an internship.
- Schedule an appointment with a career advisor to develop your own job search plan
After You Graduate
- Complete the Career Strategy Intake Form and schedule an appointment with a career advisor via the Career Services website to develop your job search plan.
- Create your STCC alumni LinkedIN account.
- Attend career events, workshops, panels, information sessions, and career fairs to network with employers.

A resume is your first introduction to an employer. It is a document that should connect your skills, qualifications, and experience to the job’s description. It provides insight into your educational background, past work, volunteer, and internship experiences. The resume should convince employers that you are a strong candidate for the position and should be interviewed.

Clinical & Support Options
Clinical & Support Options (CSO) for a wide range of responsive and effective trauma-informed interventions for mental health, substance use disorder recovery, family services, and more. Our community-based nonprofit behavioral health agency delivers comprehensive, holistic clinical and support services throughout Western Massachusetts.
Dakin Humane Society
Dakin Humane Society is home to over 500 volunteers who make it possible to serve thousands of animals and their families every year. Volunteers can be found in all departments from hands-on work with shelter animals and foster care to duties in our administrative offices and events.
Gardening the Community
Gardening the Community seeks interns year-round for a variety of positions and projects. Internships generally entail work in Springfield as well as work remotely, but entirely remote options may be accommodated. They are looking for students interested in working with them over 2 semesters or longer. The internships are unpaid and are generally 5-10 hours/week.

Suit Up Springfield is a community organization focused on providing the young men of Springfield with professional attire. Their goal is to help each individual find a suit that will give them the confidence, knowledge, and tools to help them become a successful member of our community.
Dress for Success provides women with professional attire to secure employment. Volunteers will work with you to help you choose an interview outfit and will also provide guidance and support for the upcoming interview.
