STCC Medical Assistant program offered free to eligible residents

MassHire Workforce Boards of Hampden and Franklin Hampshire Counties are offering free training at Springfield Technical Community College to individuals interested in pursuing a career in medical assisting. Residents of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties are eligible to apply. Eligible, approved individuals can enroll in the medical assistant program at Springfield Technical Community College.

STCC professor, alumna draw inspiration from leadership program

Leadership Pioneer Valley recently celebrated 21 graduates who went through its intense, condensed virtual leadership program. Two of the 21 graduates – a Springfield Technical Community College assistant professor Aimee Dalenta and STCC alumna Kara Woolridge – reflected on lessons learned in the LPV’s leadership development program known as LEAP.

Former pro basketball player comes home to talk about hoops with youth at STCC

Kevin Freeman was a special guest during the Basketball and Physics weeklong program for youth in their early teens, which is part of the College for Kids summer program at STCC. College for Kids is still accepting registration for other programs scheduled in July and August.

STCC announces spring 2021 dean’s list

Springfield Technical Community College celebrates the accomplishment of the 804 students who were named to the spring 2021 dean’s list. The dean’s list is published each semester to recognize excellence in academic performance. To be considered, degree-seeking students must earn 12 or more college level credits in the current semester, or a total of 12 or more combined college-level credits earned during the fall and spring semesters, and achieve a 3.3 or above grade point average.

STCC to offer vaccines, joins White House’s College Challenge

Springfield Technical Community College joined the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge, an effort by the White House and U.S. Department of Education to end the pandemic. Nearly 600 colleges and universities are participating in the initiative which includes a public awareness campaign to get as many people as possible vaccinated in the coming weeks. The College Vaccine Challenge is part of a larger White House initiative to have 70 percent of U.S. adults vaccinated by July 4.
