Massachusetts Community Colleges Announce Vaccine Requirement

The Presidents of the Massachusetts community colleges announced today that students, faculty, and staff at the Commonwealth’s 15 community colleges must be fully vaccinated by January 2022.

The director of the MILE program hopes to open doors for male students and promote student success by providing mentoring, academic support and community engagement opportunities. The MILE program consists of one-on-one and group mentoring, skill-building workshops, community service, tutoring sessions, and advising.

STCC-Elms social work transfer program expands with master’s degree option

The STCC-Elms partnership recently expanded to include St. Louis University (SLU), which offers a Master of Social Work degree. Master’s level classes are taught online and in person on the Elms College campus. The associate and bachelor's degree courses are taught at STCC.

STCC welcomes annual Stop & Shop donation for students in need

Springfield Technical Community College received a five-year commitment from Stop & Shop to help stock the shelves of an on-campus food pantry for students facing food insecurities. Stop & Shop, which first partnered with STCC in the fall of 2019, committed to donating $50,000 over five years, or $10,000 a year.

STCC staffer shares memories of deployment to ground zero after 9/11

On the 20th anniversary of the nation’s deadliest terrorist attack, STCC staff member Jonathan Miller wants to share memories of his work helping others at ground zero in a Zoom presentation he is calling “9/11 Remembrance: A Responder’s Perspective.” On Sept. 9, at 2 p.m., STCC will host a webinar featuring Miller, who will recount stories and share emotions felt during the intense two weeks of his first deployment.

Gov. Baker appoints 3 to STCC Board of Trustees

The Springfield Technical Community College Board of Trustees welcomes three new members: Samalid M. Hogan, Norman Rolda and student trustee Monique Selden-Riley. Gov. Charlie Baker appointed Hogan, Roldan and Selden-Riley to serve on the board. The STCC student body in April elected Selden-Riley as its representative.
