STCC wins state Career Pathways Grant for early childhood education

Springfield Technical Community College will apply a $296,904 state grant to support a new affordable professional development program for early childhood educators. The funding will allow STCC to roll out its Child Development Associate Plus program this fall. The program will help early childhood educators obtain certification and become better qualified to teach infants and toddlers as well as preschool-aged children.

STCC’s Internet of Things Certificate prepares students for evolving field

STCC offers an Internet of Things certificate program that prepares students to work in “smart” buildings, where energy and lighting is controlled through the Internet, and in medical facilities where machines are connected to networks, among other locations with IoT technology. Students also will study how the technology applies to motor vehicles, security systems, environmental monitoring, smart manufacturing and smart homes.

STCC receives significant donation in lead up to major gifts campaign

Springfield Technical Community College dedicated the reading room in the library in memory of John W. Bennett, who named STCC the beneficiary of his life insurance policy. During a ceremony on June 14, STCC President John B. Cook thanked Bennett family members and friends who were on hand for the formal dedication of the Bennett Reading Room. STCC received $250,000 from the Bennett estate.
