STCC announces the dean's list for fall 2019. The dean’s list is published each semester to recognize above-average academic performance. To be considered, degree-seeking students must earn 12 or more college level credits in the current semester or 12 or more combined college-level credits earned during the fall and spring semesters, and achieve a 3.3 or above grade point average.

STCC offers EMT classes starting Jan. 22

Interested in becoming an emergency medical technician? Springfield Technical Community College will offer EMT classes beginning Jan. 22. Students can choose to take day or evening courses to complete the program, which runs between January and May. Training takes place three days a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Day classes are held between 8 a.m. and noon. Night classes run 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Gateway to College at STCC inspires siblings to succeed

Brother and sister Fernando and Hayleigh Rosa, who both graduated from the Gateway to College at STCC, say the program put them on the pathway to success. Fernando works as a corrections officer and Hayleigh, a student at STCC, hopes to become a forensic pathologist.

Open house set for Asphalt Academy Pre-Apprenticeship Program at STCC

Springfield Technical Community College’s Workforce Development Center will hold an open house on Jan. 25, 10 a.m.-noon, for the new Asphalt Academy Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The informational meeting in Building 27, Room 149, is a chance to learn about the new program and exciting career opportunities available in the paving industry.

The president of Palmer Paving Inc. says she likes to hire STCC graduates. "They’re prepared to go into the workplace with a basic understanding of our business," says Janet Callahan. A graduate of STCC's civil engineering technology program for a career at Palmer Paving and other construction-related businesses.

STCC computer class project to benefit students in need

A Springfield Technical Community College computer information technology class’s final project transformed unwanted computers into a gift for students in need. Students in Professor Brian Candido’s CIT 131 UNIX 2 class rehabbed nine discarded computers, which will be donated to STCC students facing financial hardship.

Springfield Technical Community College has opened a STEM Center that features resources and services to assist students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students who visit the facility can use a computer lab, study lounge and take advantage of other services, including exam proctoring, career exploration and class support.
