STCC to host Health Careers Exploration Night on Nov. 14

Springfield Technical Community College on Thursday, Nov. 14, will offer Health Careers Exploration Night, an opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a health care professional to learn more about STCC’s programs. Open to the public, the free event will take place between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. While no registration is required, visitors should check in with organizers in the first-floor lobby of Building 20, on the Pearl Street side of the campus.

Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery celebrates the work of artist Eric Pelka

“Eric Pelka: 90s NYC to Rural Western Massachusetts” features dozens of paintings and drawings in an elaborate installation at the Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College on view through Nov. 9. Two events are planned on Tuesday, Oct. 29: a meet and greet reception 9:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m. and an evening celebration 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Stop & Shop donation to help hungry students at STCC

for students in need. Stop & Shop donated $5,000 to support the Ram Cupboard, an emergency food pantry designed to help support students in meeting basic nutritional needs. Students who qualify receive emergency groceries at no cost to them.

STCC, Beal Elementary School partner in tutoring program

Children at Alice B. Beal Elementary School will get help in class this year from students at Springfield Technical Community College. STCC is partnering with the elementary school at 285 Tiffany St. in an initiative that gives experience to college students who are considering careers as teachers. The Beal students will get extra help with reading, math and any other subjects that may pose a struggle.

STCC, West Springfield High partner in health care, advanced manufacturing dual enrollment

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) and West Springfield High School (WSHS) have broadened a dual enrollment partnership in advanced manufacturing and created a new academic pathway to a career in health care. WSHS students now can choose to take college-level courses in health science as part of the Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Partnership Grant, awarded to STCC in September.

STEM Day at STCC to showcase career pathways

As part of Massachusetts STEM Week, Springfield Technical Community College on Oct. 23 will host an event to showcase the wide variety of science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs at the college. Designed to be fun and educational, the “STEM Day” event is geared toward local high school students and STCC students with undeclared majors.

Community Dental Day at STCC to offer free service on Nov. 16

Springfield Technical Community College dental hygiene program and the Valley District Dental Society will co-host the fourth Community Dental Day on Saturday, Nov. 16. The event at STCC provides an opportunity for area residents who might not be receiving any dental care to obtain free treatment and schedule follow-up visits.
