STCC announces a dynamic lineup of fall 2025 exhibitions and programming

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College announces its Fall 2025 schedule of exhibitions and events, showcasing a diverse and engaging group of artists whose work explores themes of identity, community, spatial transformation, and student creativity.

Sunny Allis: We’re Riding the Same Wave
- On View: Sept. 3 – Oct. 2, 2025
- Public Reception/Celebration: Saturday, Sept 13, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
(Wearable Sculpture Dance Performance during reception, beginning around 2:30 p.m.)
- Carberry Conversations Interview: Monday, Sept. 22, 12:15 p.m.
- Student Engagement Workshop: Wednesday, Oct 1, 12:15 p.m. to 1:25 p.m.
Opening the fall season is multimedia artist Sunny Allis (they/them) with We’re Riding the Same Wave, a vibrant, participatory exhibition that invites visitors to rediscover the joy and resilience found in play. Allis, a trans/non-binary artist and arts educator, brings their unique perspective to STCC through immersive storytelling, interactive environments, and playful sculptural forms. The exhibit is made possible in part by Assets for Artists and a ValleyCreates Project Evolution grant.
“We’re Riding the Same Wave” explores how fluidity, transformation, and queerness intersect to challenge fixed perspectives and foster hope and change. Allis’ work has been shown in major venues including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and internationally acclaimed animation festivals.

Looky Here One-Page Zine Workshop
- Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 12:15 p.m.: Lunch reception for students in Gallery Lobby; workshop in Theater Room (B28/101)
STCC students will have the opportunity to create their own one-page zine during this exciting hands-on workshop, hosted by Vanessa and Hannah of Looky Here, a nonprofit arts organization based in Greenfield. Known for its art gallery, print shop, and zine press, Looky Here brings a DIY aesthetic and community-centered energy to this lunchtime event. All materials will be provided, and a lunch reception will be held in the gallery lobby.

Jorge Costa: ReThreading the Surface: Mark-Making Ecologies

The fall season continues with the innovative work of Jorge Costa, a multidisciplinary artist whose practice blends art, science, and architecture. Known for site-specific installations that invite audience interaction, Costa’s new exhibition at STCC examines spatial and ecological transformation through the lens of biomimetics, microbiology, and climate science.
Costa’s work has been widely exhibited, from Portugal to Japan to Massachusetts, and he has received numerous awards and fellowships, including recognition from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Springfield Cultural Council. He currently teaches at multiple colleges, including STCC, and previously participated in STCC’s Carberry Conversations series.
Fall 2025 Student Art Showcase

The semester concludes with the always-popular Student Art Exhibition, which features a curated selection of exceptional student work produced in STCC’s Fine Arts courses. The showcase includes a wide variety of media, such as painting, printmaking, charcoal drawing, traditional photography, and more. The exhibition celebrates the creativity and growth of STCC’s emerging artists.

Carberry Fine Arts Gallery is an essential part of the cultural and academic life at STCC,” said Mary Lou Vredenburg, Dean of Liberal and Professional Studies. “Our fall lineup reflects the diversity, creativity and innovation that we hope to inspire in our students and the greater community. These exhibitions and events provide opportunities for dialogue, learning and celebration of the arts in ways that connect deeply to our mission as a college.”
