SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield Technical Community College invites members of the community to take advantage of its on-campus Dental Hygiene Clinic, which provides comprehensive and affordable oral health care.
The clinic is staffed by STCC dental hygiene students under the supervision of licensed dental hygienists and dentists. Patients receive high-quality care while helping students gain hands-on experience as part of their professional training.

“Access to dental care can be difficult for those without insurance,” said Professor Darlene O’Brien, Dental Sciences chair and Dental Hygiene program coordinator. “Our clinic provides an affordable option for the community while preparing our students to become skilled dental hygienists.”
STCC dental hygiene student Amina Maigari, who is the class president, said the clinic is a rewarding experience. “The clinic is where knowledge becomes action, and every patient reminds us that our skills can change lives. Here, we don't just learn dentistry – we learn empathy, responsibility and the importance of giving back to the community through meaningful connections.”

The announcement comes as National Dental Hygiene Month is observed throughout October, a time to recognize the importance of good oral health and the role dental hygienists play in the community.
Christopher Scott, Dean of the School of Health and Patient Simulation at STCC, said the clinic reflects the college’s mission to serve the public while training the next generation of healthcare professionals. “National Dental Hygiene Month reminds us that oral health is an essential part of overall health,” Scott said. “At STCC, we’re proud to give our students hands-on learning opportunities that also provide affordable dental care to members of our community.”
