Heart to Heart Focus Group

Heart to Heart LogoThe Heart to Heart Focus Group is an initiative seeking to strategically engage male students of color in holistic support for retention, while also developing a shared commitment to ending gender-based violence.

The Focus Group will consist of eight virtual meetings over the course of the semester, with the goal of building relationships, participating in the Heart of a Man virtual series, and creating a safe space to reflect on the themes addressed by the series. The themes of the series include how race, class, and gender impact men of colors’ experiences with education, police violence, gender-based violence, and mental health. At the end of the semester, the final session will focus on creating a vision for where the Heart of a Man initiative can go next, based on the input and ideas of the students involved.

Students must fill out an interest form and commit to attending all live sessions as well as viewing two Heart of a Man video recordings. Students will be paid for their participation. The deadline for applications is Monday, March 8, 2021.

The Heart to Heart Focus Group is a collaboration between the Office of Multicultural Affairs and #STCCWeCan, an initiative of the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Program Grant. To join the group please complete the Heart to Heart Focus Group Sign Up form.
