Federal Work-Study
The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program allows students to earn money while attending college and provides valuable work experience.
All jobs are available on the college campus. The hourly rate varies depending on the type of work you do and your skill level. You may work between 10 - 12 hours per week and you cannot earn more than your maximum FWS award. Work-study students must be registered for at least six credits.
All returning work-study students must complete a new contract (available in Student Financial Services) each academic year. Funding for this program is limited.

How to Apply
You can apply for federal work-study in your FAFSA application. If you did not express an interest in the Federal Work-Study program in your FAFSA, you can contact Student Financial Services regarding eligibility.
Once eligible, students can apply for a work-study position by contacting the position supervisor directly. Supervisor contact information is available in the table of works-study positions below.

Onboarding process - Hiring Requirements
Students approved for Federal Work Study must complete Training and onboarding with Career Services and Human Resources before they can be officially hired by the college. A link to the Career Services training will be provided if you are selected for work study. The steps to complete the onboarding process with Human Resources is listed below. Students who do not complete the training and onboarding process will not be permitted to begin working.
- An email will be sent to a student's STCC email with the link to the onboarding packet and training dates.
- Complete the online forms from the packet and submit.
- General Forms: Electronic Communication & Signature Consent, Emergency Contact, and Personnel Data
- I-9 Form
- W-9 Form
- W4, CT-W4 (if applicable), M-4, and Direct Deposit Forms
- PFML Acknowledgment Form
- Once onboarding packet is complete, receive email from HR to set up a short, in-person onboarding meeting.
- Please be sure to bring your original identification document(s) from the Approved list to the meeting to complete the I-9. (Copies are not accepted)
- Attend meeting to go over policies and complete I-9 form and remaining paperwork. (about 30 minutes)
