Student Empowerment Fund
Supporting students as they transform their lives.
The Student Empowerment Fund, administered through the Center for Access Services (CAS), is designed to assist students experiencing unexpected, short-term financial hardships that may create barriers to continuing their education. The Fund’s goal is to provide support that helps students overcome immediate financial challenges so they can remain in school and successfully progress and complete their educational goals.
CAS recognizes that students may encounter circumstances that create financial barriers to their academic success. All requests for assistance receive careful consideration and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis through an individualized assessment of the student’s circumstances and funding eligibility requirements. CAS makes every effort to connect students with available resources and provide support that promotes their ability to succeed.
Eligibility
To be considered eligible, the student must:
- Be currently enrolled at STCC and actively pursuing a credit-bearing program
- Be in good academic and disciplinary standing
- Demonstrate a financial hardship or unmet financial need that may affect their ability to continue their education, maintain satisfactory academic progress, or successfully complete their degree.
- Consider and/or utilize other sources of funding and support as appropriate, including those provided through the STCC Center for Access Services.
Final eligibility will be determined through an individualized review of each student’s circumstances and the specific requirements of the available funding sources. Meeting the general eligibility criteria does not guarantee an award. Assistance is subject to funding availability and the applicable requirements and restrictions of each funding source.
