STCC marketing team wins national awards for writing and community relations

Springfield Technical Community College was selected as the winner of two 2021 Paragon Awards – a gold for writing and a bronze for a community relations campaign for COVID-19 response – at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) annual conference held in Denver.

STCC student joins steampunk wheelchair design project

STCC student Gabriel Luppi is teaming up with steampunk expert Bruce Rosenbaum and Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical School in Palmer to design a Quantum Power wheelchair that incorporates the visual aesthetics of steampunk, which combines history, art and technology to make inspiring, functional and personal products.

Kiyota Garcia started working at STCC in 2010, and has taken on various leadership roles over the past 11 years. Recently named Dean of Student Initiatives, Garcia is responsible for administration, leadership and management of services that directly relate to student support. Garcia relates to students and hopes that her background can inspire them to do their best. Garcia is the first in her family to graduate from college and the eldest of five children.

Art gallery’s Covid exhibition features work by STCC faculty and visual artist

The Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College presents “The Covid Series” by STCC art faculty member Paul Bloomfield through March 31. Bloomfield, who teaches painting and drawing at STCC, started his series of paintings in the spring of 2020, the early days of the pandemic, and has continued working on the art.

STCC partners with YWCA to provide resources for victims of domestic violence

Springfield Technical Community College is working with the YWCA of Western Massachusetts to provide free counseling services for students and employees who are victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
