STCC nursing program among top in Massachusetts

A national independent nursing information and education website listed Springfield Technical Community College’s nursing program as one of the best in Massachusetts. Nursing Process ranked STCC’s program No. 8 in the state for 2020. The ranking was established after thoroughly evaluating 60 nursing programs across the state, according to a Nursing Process communication officer Shehnaz Reddy.

STCC business transfer program opens doorway to opportunity for immigrant from Portugal

Four years ago, Helder Serrazina left his home in Portugal and moved to Western Massachusetts with a dream of getting an education and pursuing his goal of owning a chain of hotels. Serrazina, of Monson, started at Springfield Technical Community College, which served as the perfect gateway to higher education. He’s now enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and seeking a degree from Isenberg School of Management.

STCC receives $662,000 in state grants for COVID-19 relief

The state has awarded Springfield Technical Community College two grants totaling nearly $662,000 for COVID-19 relief, STCC President John B. Cook announced today. The money will be used to help keep the campus safe during the pandemic, compensate faculty for their work developing online courses and boost student aid, Cook said at a news conference at STCC. He spoke from Building 20, where check-in stations are set up to screen students, staff and faculty who arrive on the campus.

Registration open for STCC dental radiology course

Springfield Technical Community College is accepting applications for a two-week dental radiology certificate training for dental assistants, the only program of its kind west of Boston. This intensive two-week hybrid (online and clinical component) course trains dental assistants in the fundamentals of dental radiography. The course will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m., Nov. 10-12 and Nov. 17-19.

Springfield Technical Community College will host a virtual series designed to engage men in conversations about masculinity, gender stereotypes, interpersonal violence, race, politics and social justice. The Heart of a Man series features three online discussions beginning this fall semester. STCC students and the general public can register for these events by visiting stcc.io/heart. All events are free and open to the public.

STCC professors to work on intellectual property education initiative

Two Springfield Technical Community College professors have been selected to work on an intellectual property educational initiative over the next two years – an effort that could help Western Massachusetts business owners better understand how to protect their creative and original ideas. Offered through the Workforce Development Center, the 60-hour training is for individuals licensed in various medical fields in Massachusetts.
