LEAD Students at Gala

Are you curious about a career in the business field? Would you like to transfer to any four-year college at some point in the future? Are you interested in four free Business courses at STCC? Do you want to know more about the benefits of an internship at KPMG?

This inaugural program, BLOOM Bridge, empowers female-identifying underrepresented students from low-income households to participate in a Bridge program for students who may be interested in majoring in a business program, a business career, or transferring into a business program at a four-year college or university. It starts in the summer with in-person Digital Literacy and Math bootcamp workshops, foundations of Pre-college algebra, and connects them to resources at STCC that will help prepare them for academic and professional success. All while taking courses with peers who are also new to STCC!

BLOOM students will automatically be enrolled in the Female Leadership and Mentoring Program (LEAD) at STCC, to enhance their academic and career success in the Business Career or Transfer programs. Students will also gain access to industry advice, mentoring, and networking with professionals in the accounting, audit, and tax fields through our partnership with KPMG.

By signing up for the BLOOM program, students will:

  • Learn about the benefits of enrolling in Business programs at STCC
  • Identify their career/transfer goals through faculty mentoring
  • Bolster their confidence in math and digital literacy through peer mentoring, tutoring, and academic support
  • Enhance skills necessary for an internship at KPMG
  • Receive the following credit-bearing courses for free:
  • Receive the following college preparation workshops and seminars:
    • Digital Literacy (Summer Bridge 2023 program)
    • Math Bootcamp (Summer Bridge 2023 program)
    • Principles of Financial Literacy (Fall 2023 semester through weekly LEAD meetings)
      • Receive a stipend upon completion of BLOOM courses, to off-set costs related to accessing your education (transportation, childcare, etc.).

Grant funding from KPMG’s Reaching New Heights Program will be used to provide career exploration, peer mentoring, tutoring, academic support, and tuition for four courses needed for the Business program.

By removing the barrier of cost for underrepresented students, STCC seeks to strengthen partnerships and enhance existing diversity pipelines with local high schools.

If you are interested in enrolling yourself in the BLOOM program or would like to learn more about how you can partner with us, please complete this interest form and we will contact you!
