English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Program Description

SALC provides free instruction in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Morning and evening classes are offered in levels ranging from true beginner to advanced. In addition, students work with academic and career advisors and build technology skills. The program provides support for:

  • transition to college;
  • workforce development;
  • other community goals.

Participants receive certificates for attendance, achievement, and completion.

Program Details

All textbooks will be provided for you. You will need to bring pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, etc.

ESOL classes are available on days and evenings, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. 

Most classes are currently hybrid: Students attend in person twice a week at STCC and meet online once a week with their teacher.

Partner agencies can submit ESOL referrals by completing the ESOL Program Partner Referral Form.

Day Levels:
Level I-Beginning (SPL 0 - 2)
Level II-Intermediate (SPL 2 - 4)
Level III-Advanced (SPL 4 - 6)

Night Levels:
Level I-Beginning (SPL 0 - 2)
Level II-Intermediate (SPL 2 - 4)
Level III-High Intermediate (SPL 4 - 6)
Level IV-Advanced (SPL 4 - 6)

Enrollment Process

  1. Complete the ESOL application form.

An ESOL staff member will call you within a few weeks to complete a short language assessment. Please note, there is a waiting list for ESOL classes.
